What is king baboon tarantula?

The king baboon tarantula (Pelinobius muticus) is a large and aggressive species of tarantula that is native to Central and East Africa.

They have a distinctly large and stocky body with a leg span of up to 8-10 inches (20-25 cm). Their body color varies from reddish-brown to dark brown or black, which helps them camouflage in their natural habitat.

King baboon tarantulas are carnivorous and feed on insects, small mammals, and other invertebrates. They also have a strong bite and can inject venom that can cause severe pain and discomfort.

These tarantulas are ground-dwelling and do not climb as much as other tarantula species. They are generally solitary creatures and prefer to burrow in the ground.

King baboon tarantulas are often kept as pets, but they require a lot of care and maintenance. They need a large, secure enclosure with enough space and substrate for them to burrow. The temperature and humidity levels should also be carefully monitored and maintained. While their venom is not generally lethal to humans, their size, strength, and aggressiveness make them not suitable for beginner keepers.
